All good suggestion. Also get your pain medicine filled so you have it for the trip. Also I'm short and we used a kiddie stool so I didn't have to stretch to get up into my daughters SUV.Bring a couple extra pillows to the hospital I used them under each arm.   Good Luck!

There is a track in Getzandaner Park behind Baylor Hospital.  Tomorrow we will be walking the track about 1:00.  If you want to join us, the bridge might be the best place to plan on meeting up at 1.  The track goes over a wooden bridge so we can be there at 1 pm....  See ya...

If you haven't been there, the track also has exercise stations you can stop at spaced all along the track.

Hey George....
It was sure scarce out there for the soccer game today.  Lots of "single" parents like myself out there as the "other half" was probably at the Katy-Cinco Ranch game.  Happy to report our Katy Tigers came out on top 21-20 (missed extra point by Cinco caused the one point deficit).  Last year Katy lost to them so Cinco ended up winning the district title.  This year, other way around!  Now the Tigers will keep their eye on the prize and try to work their way up to a 3-peat state title for district 5A football!  WooHooo!!!  Officiating was terrible though.  BOTH sides agreed to that!!!

Sarah's team struggled today as the heat was creeping back with higher humidity.  Hard to run like that for an hour when you are 7-8 years old.  They run out of gas quickly!  I don't think they won (with this league, they don't keep score...) but it really didn't matter.  I think we only have about three more games until the "season" is over anyway.  Two in a row, then they skip the week of Thanksgiving, then the last one will be on December 5th.

I'd better go get Sarah off to bed!

Dana had very good suggestions, I think I would also make sure to have an ice chest so you can have plenty of water available.  It would also be a good idea to stop and get out to walk a little on the way home.  You don't want to be sitting in the car for the whole ride home.

Good luck

I didn't have to drive far, about 40 minutes but I was so grateful that I bought a pillow for the ride home.  Bumps in the road are uncomfortable, holding a pillow helped the shock.

You are traveling pretty far, I'm not sure how long your surgeon keeps you in the hospital post-op but I'd be apt to say you should probably stay close at least a couple of days as a precaution.

Best wishes on your surgery.

Oh and I forgot to say......bring something very comfortable so nothing rubs on your incisions.  A free-flowing dress or really lose warm ups/stretch pants and a T-shirt or something similiar.

Thanks Dana!  Yeah, I'm totally excited.  The pain involved in the PS made the WLS look like a walk in the park -- but I think it will be well worth it.

There will definitely be a new avatar when everything looks better and, hopefully, I have more of my HAIR back!  Ugh, the combfuls I have lost.  Your new avatar looks great, btw.

After what seems like forever my surgery is just a few days away.
I will be driving to Dallas for my surgery....has anyone else traveled a large distance for their surgery.  Were there any percautions that you needed to take after the surgery for your drive home.  (my hubby will be doing all of the driving but I'm talking about things to do to make my trip for comfortable.)

Should we try to drive back home once I'm released or should we stay a night close by??

Any and all advise would be helpful~
thanks in advance~

Brooke....that is my saying also....IF GOD CLOSES A DOOR HE WILL ALWAYS OPEN A WINDOW !!!  My son wants to be a college professior !!!  He has already signed up for college....he is 28 and not getting any younger.    At least God brought him back to Texas from Ca. where he had been for 8 yrs.    I know that God may not let him keep his job and that is OK with me.    Just hate to see him disapointed and loose 6 yrs of his life in this Co.   But God is in control and my trust and faith is in him to do what is best for all 3 of my sons.     Congrats to your son and the WL and WLS.   Also to the job that he loves.   Life is too short to be stuck in a job you hate !!!!

I take it that is some of it.   I think that they have had it in for him all along.   I found out today there were 22 complaints on him from 4 different of his employees,    UGH.....they were without a store manager for 6 weeks prior to him taking over and the store was a disaster.    It is now clean and orderly....not at all like before he took over.   I told him surely the company would look over his 6 year career with the company before taking the word of the employees.    If not....then maybe it is a good thing that he parts ways with them before he invests more time in the job.

I have never been one to wear sweaters.  But today, for the first time, I bought a sweater DRESS.  I just can't believe it.  This is the most amazing feeling.  I even dried at the store.  Just thought I would share, I know I don't share often but I read everything and you all are wonderful!!

Lorraine, I had a anchor cut tummy tuck (that's front only), a breast lift with implants and a brachioplasty (arms) done all together in 2007.  My cost for all of it was $17,260.  My surgeon was in Houston, too far for you but wanted to give you an idea of what I paid.

Good luck!

Lorraine:

See my post on 9/13/09 entitled "PS advice."  I posted the prices my plastic surgeon was quoting me and got feedback from others about the prices they paid.  There's a lot of information in that post and the replies.

Since then I have had the breast lift and facelift.  Although it has only been a week since my surgery, I think I'm going to be thrilled with the results.  My co-workers are already telling me the facelift makes me look 10 years younger.  The "turkey neck" that appeared after I lost weight is completely gone.

My plastic surgeon is Dr. Paul Pin.  He does his procedures at Baylor and at Doctors Hospital.  He's also a sweet, witty guy, impossible not to like.  Let me know if you have any follow-up questions -- I'll be happy to help if I can.

Hey Lorraine!  I loved my surgeon, Dr. Christine Stiles.  She is in Frisco, off of Warren in the Baylor Frisco building.  I can't answer about prices since my insurance paid for my panni, but I can attest to her skill and care.  Her and her office staff were fantastic and went well above and beyond my expecations throughout the process.

Her website is www.drcarman.com and her number is 214-618-4000.  Definitely meet with a few surgeons to find the one that fits you best.  I'll definitely be going back to Dr. Stiles for any future work with or without insurance.

Congrats!!

Hi I live in the north east part of the Dallas metroplex. I am interested in any DR names/out come/ and location of your plastic surgery that is in the Dallas area. I will be paying cash as insurance does not cover any of this type of surgery. Also if you don't mind sharing the cost, I understand if you don't, as it is very personnel. I'm just trying to get ideas and direction to look for. I had my gastric by-pas surgery July of 06 and are currently around my goal weight, which I have been maintaining within 10 pounds or so.  I'm just getting in the process of researching and looking. I never thought that this would even be possible for me.

Thanks you guys

For the first time since WLS in '07. I have had horrible sinus and allergy issues this past week. I had been just taking tylenol, but I am wondering if
Rapid Release Gels, TYLENOL® Allergy Multi-Symptom is okay for me to take since WLS surgery?

Ingredients are as followed:

Rapid Release Gelcaps

Acetaminophen 325 mg in each gelcap

Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg in each gelcap

Phenylephrine HCl 5 mg in each gelcap

The Cowboys don't play until 7PM, so you won't be missing the Cowboy game.

The meeting will be at the Grand Prairie Library in the conference room.  The address is 901 Conover Drive.  This is just west of the Grand Prairie Police Department.

If you take I-20 towards Grand Prairie, exit on 161 and go North.  Conover is off of 161.  It is just past the sign that says Jefferson exit is 1/4 mile.  You will be able to see one of the tallest office buildings in Grand Prairie, it is about 6 or 7 stories tall.  It is on the east side of 161.  Make the right hand turn on Conover and that building will be to your left.  The library is on your right.

Any questions, feel free to PM me, or just ask here.  I will be back on the board later today.

I NEVER wear anything stretchy anymore!!!  Always wore jeans without elastic waistbands even when I was fat, but at home wore stretchy shorts at home.  Now I look for fitted shirts to show off my new waistline.

I am just now buying clothes for myself after 15 months because my weight has finally stabilized.  Most of what I have in my closet are thrift store finds or OH / RYD conference clothing exchanges.

My favorite though is buying shoes and boots with high heels.  I can wear them w/o my feet killing me and since I am short (5' 2") when I wear high heels with boots it lengthens my legs and make me look slimmer LOL.  Plus I am too lazy to hem some of the hand-me-down jeans.

Today's plan:

L-Salad
D-Fried Turkey and mustard greens/green beans

Good Morning OH Family!

Lots of wonderful things going on with our OH Family. Makes my heart happy that Debbi got to go visit Danni, and I'm jealous and happy that our girls are going to help our Karla celebrate being "Fabulous at 50" Our Jennifer has a wonderful job and has moved closer. I haven't heard about the new position yet. The person that did the interview is on vacation for a few days. But I got another call for an interview on Thurs for another position that would be great also. Had a wonderful time yesterday, my former co-worker from St Paul was down here on business and met me at the casino gave her a tour, had Starbucks and got caught up on the latest. Makes me glad that I did get laid off and now have a job that has a lot less stress. Well I better get a few things done and start getting ready for work. We were really busy last night Alan Jackson was there. Prayers for our Jodie that her job search is short and sweet. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Your loved!

No problem.  I was not on much last night myself.  I read the posts, but did not comment on them or update anything.  My home computer is rather slow, plus, Friday and Saturday nights are my Mary and I nights.  We do stuff together, then I go play internet poker for a few hours while catching up on some DVR'd shows before going to bed.

We are getting the Wii system, don't know when I am going to catch up on TV if I get that.  I told Mary I want a second TV in the living room for the Wii.  This way I can watch TV and do the Wii thing at the same time.  I really hope I get some exercise in with the Wii programs.

Glad you got some much needed rest.

Topic: RE: Saturday WLS Express
Good morning.  I'm so excited and hopefully prepared to be invaded by some of my WLS sisters today!  Gina R, Liz, Que, Steph, Becky, Donna and Paige will be here later today to have a slumber party and go to my costume party for my 50th birthday (2 weeks ago) at my sisters house.  There will probably be 80 to 100 people there.  I counted a good 80 that I was pretty sure were coming, plus a lot I didn't know would show or not.  Thank heavens my sister is a great hostess and has a big enough house set up for that kind of stuff.

There will be eating, dancing, and visiting plus enjoying the costumes.  I'm going to be a lady pirate.  Lots of family have come in for it so I'll be glad to see them.  I'm sure my nieces will want a "dance off" at some pt.  I usually dance but they're too good to be in a contest with them.  We tell the one that is a jr. in high school we should get her a pole!
(not that what she does is inappropriate, just a great dancer)

I have made poppyseed chicken casserole, layered salad, mostly sf pumpkin cake w/ sf cream cheese frosting, mostly sf ooey gooey almond cake, buffalo dip and spinach dip for my peeps.

We'll have gals sleeping all over the place.  Ben's spending the night at my sisters after the party.  He said he's not staying in the house...too many women.  My husband changed job locations this week and most likely won't even get to come in for the party.  It will be great if he gets off early enough to make it in, but will have to go back tonight because he has to work tomorrow.

Prayers for all who need them.

Danni and Debbi...have fun!

Missing my cajungirl, Lynnette, Kathy B, Jodie and Terry T today!  Boohoo!!!!

Have a great Saturday.

Karla

Topic: RE: PRAYERS NEED FOR MY OLDEST SON'S JOB !!!
Hi Vivian,
I understand your concern and need for prayers.  You certainly have them from me.  That being said let me also say this:

Remember if God closes one door, he opens another.  Case in point;.  My son had been with a large auto parts store for 8 years.  He worked his way up from delivery driver to Major Accounts Manager.  Since about a year ago, he started getting harassed for being obese (63 BMI).  Management was harassing him, blaming low sales on him, etc.  My son even asked "is this about my weight", and the other manager said YES.  So, in March, my son had WLS, went on medical leave and NEVER went back.  Yes, he was unemployed for several months (lives at home with me) and that was TOUGH.  But I believe God finally put him where he wants him.  He is now tutoring 6th graders at an elementary school.  Pay is less and there are no benefits, but he is doing what he does best and loving it!  BTW, he has lost 155 pounds to date.

Sorry for the long story, but know I WILL be praying that your son does  NOT lose his job.  Times are tough.  But, if the prayer request gets a different answer, know things will still be OK with a little more prayer.

I have a lot a praying going on this week-end!

Topic: RE: The NIGH****CHMAN - Weekend - 11/6&7
Hi George;

Sorry I missed you last night. I was exhausted from work, came home and Rick & Nicole came over to help us finish unloading the second truck and when we were done with that, I promptly fell asleep on the sofa. Michael woke me up to go to bed at some point, but I slept nearly 10 hours. My body is just so worn out right now.

Today should be a day of unpacking and organizing, but instead, I'm going to the IKEA meet-up @ 9:30, Sara's picking us up this afternoon to go to Sam's soccer game in Denton and then tonight we're doing dinner with Rick & Nicole at the Babe's Chicken House in Sanger. I'll try to get stuff unpacked in between. We have to have Michael's office set up before Monday morning because he goes back to work then and needs to be able to function. That's the biggest goal right now.

I hope you're enjoying a peaceful weekend. Weather is supposed to be fantastic, so get out there and enjoy it a bit!

Prayers for all who need them.
Blessings, Jennifer

Topic: Nuthin But Nutrition Saturday

Okay...didn't exactly stay on plan yesterday, but I really didn't eat very much.  I know I'll get off track today because my big costume birthday party is tonight at my sisters.

Today's plan:  not to be followed...it's not a good one!

lots of liquids
protein coffee almost downed
Click drink
poppyseed chicken casserole and layered veg. salad for lunch
lord only knows what else the rest of the day: sf mojitos, margaritas, dips, chip, dessert, sandwich????

I hope you might make your plan a good one.  Mine today probably will maintain or gain...surely not lose weight!
