  • I'm tossed about which one of the surgerys to have

  • I am going to have the RNY. The lap band is not good if you have GERD's, it can also slip, leak and the fills are expensive. My Dr. suggested the RNY.

  • I'm brand new to all of this. Any advise out there about which procedure gives the best result?

  • Been thinking of getting the lap band, my mother had it done and she looks great, heck she looks younger than me right now :( & :). Went to a seminar and now I'm leaning towards the by-pass, any info would be helpful on both surgeries.

  • I had Roux en Y 1 month ago and I have no regrets. It isn't easy - It is definately a lifestyle change. I have lost 30 lbs. I choose RNY over lap band because you have to have the band adjusted every 4-6 weeks with a needle and I don't do needles very well. I would also suggest that anyone considering Lap Band to be sure that the insurance covers these adjustments but some don't and that is on average $100 per visit. Plus I have a cousin who had lap band done and she has gained it all back because she has figured out how to cheat the system. But everyone is different and Lap Band is a great option for some.

  • Congratulations on your new life, after one month of surgery 30lbs? How much are you able to eat and were you sick alot? Thanks for letting me know about the visits to the doctor every 4-6wks I was leaning towards the lapband now I don't know again! I also don't want to pay for the visits each time ether. Something to think about.

  • They say that I am healthy right now but I hope to stay that way, so I am working on getting the lap band here very soon!

  • Hello Everyone.

I had the RNY done on 02/11/08. I have been doing really well, no side effects as of yet.

  • I have a seminar to go to 4/15/08 and I don't know whether or not to go with the lap band or the rny, I need more pros and cons for both surgeries. If anyone cares to share there experience with me I would welcome it with open arms.

  • I am also new to all of this. I am having the by-pass in about 2-3 weeks. I am a little scared about the surgery and what to expect. Also about what to expect after surgery. If anyone can give me some insight I would be so very appreciative.

  • Statistically, the DS has the best long-term weight loss results. I'm tentatively scheduled for a DS in December.
