Surgeon TestimonialLarry Hobson, M.D., F.A.C.SI have met Dr. Rashid and she is so sweet. My 1st impression of her is that she is very commited to helping you understand all the pros and cons of having gastric bypass. The office staff have been very helpful so far in helping me get the documents that I will need to get approved by medicaid for this surgery.
I just learned that Dr. Rashid won't be doing my surgery... one of the other partners will actually do it his name is Dr. Larry Hobson I will meet him on May 20th, 2008.
UPDATE:
I just loved my Dr. He is very kind and has a wonderful bedside manner. He doesn't rush thru what he has to say and he takes time to listen and answer your questions. If I had to do it again I would chose Dr. Hobson all over again!!! |

Just a really fast note to let everyone know I just added new pictures!!
No new news in the loss department I am at 211 so it is still really slow go but at least it is going!!!

I am stuck!!! I have made it to 246 & I am stuck!!! I am so depressed, hungry, & mostly angry I can't use the potty & I think that is why I haven't lost anymore weight and it sucks!!! I go back tomorrow for my 2 week check up & I am going to talk to the Dr. about it cuz I have tried everything, the stool softners, baby laxitives, I have started taking fiber choice chewables. But nothing is helping!! GRRRR!!! I just wanted to stop in & bitch for a minute I'll post again tomorrow after I see the Doc.

ok so I'm a slacker.... I really hate 2 type cuz I am sooo awful at it!! I am a pecker.. (I just peck at the keys)
Ok so on 2 the good stuff so far I have lost 23 lbs YaY Me!!! only 112 more 2 go!!
The Surgery I don't remember they had me knocked out cold b4 I even got 2 the O.R. sooo I'll start with when I woke up in my room... I woke up and my hubby was there (bless him he has had 2 go thru hell in all this I can be a mean person when in pain) I felt like crap warmed over!!!! The actual pain was not really that bad but I was sooo sore I couldn't hardly move. I was on a morphine pump but it made me sick 2 my stomach, constant nasuea, so I eventually ask 4 something else and they gave me shots of toradol which was much better. The 1st day was the pits I could hardly move and they don't give u anything to drink. They will only let u have about 5 ice chips every 2 hours and my mouth was soooooo dry. I started going to the bathroom and rinsing my mouth with water ( I did not drink any). I thought morning would never come but when it did around 8 am they took me to xray and I had to drink this NASTY gastric cocktail so they could make sure I had no leaks and thatnk goodness I did not!! Back in my room they finally brought me a small glass of water and it was sooo good to finally have something wet on my throat!! A couple hours later they came in & said I could go home!!!
The ride home was horrible the bumpy streets of Atlanta!!! but once I was home I got in my recliner and went back to sleep!! I rested most of that day. Then on wed. I got up and started moving more the DH had to help me get up and let the recliner out but it steadily got better with each movement!! All I wanted was water, something wet, I'm sure it was cuz the meds.
So then as I get 2 moving around the hunger in head starts calling... but my tummy didn't want no part of it. So thus far I have tried mashed taters... ok, refried beans... ok, a scrambled egg... not, it got stuck!! then I tried egg salad(very very mashed up).... ok. I tried some grits... not they got stuck. Then stubborn me yesterday I tried a couple bites of a bean burrito.... no way it came right back to kick my booty. So that has been my experiences so far. I am drinking my protein drinks and taking my vitamins, and basically existing on pudding, jell-o, and applesuace. Popcicles and fudgecicles have became my bestfriends!! So my advice to anyone who is going to have WLS eat what u can b4 surgery cuz what they tell u is true, afterward u will not be able 2 eat the same stuff!!!

Well I only have 16 hours 2 go & I am getting more nervous by the minute!!! I know everything is gonna be fine but I'm still nervous!
The phosphosoda kicked my ass yesterday & now I have 2 go drink it again at 2pm. And I am STARVING!!!! I will be soo glad when this is all over!!
I'll be back after surgery with photos, till then everyone please pray that I'm not in too much pain cuz I'm a big ol' baby when it comes 2 pain!!

PHOSPHOSODA is SOOOO NASTY!!!!! This stuff left a horrible taste in my mouth  and let's not talk about going 2 the potty  SO there u have it that is all I am doing in my last hours of fatness!!
The one good thing is my DH is replacing all of the carpet in my house & it is so pretty & clean!!!
OK I gotta go so I can go sit on the potty for another couple of hours!!!!

I am going insane.... today, Sat., & Sun. & then I have my WLS I am so stoked. But along with the happiness comes the fear of it all!!
I want 2 apologize 2 anyone that has emailed me & I haven't answered. My life had fallen apart over the last week & I have just managed 2 put it all back 2gether. Needless 2 say just in time 2 be able 2 go 2 all the appointments 4 my pre-op but all went well!!!
I went to the pre-op appt. on Tues. & yes I was there ALLLL day.... paperwork paperwork & then more paperwork, then we got 2 sit in a small room, that was too hot, & talk about all the good foods we r gonna be able 2 eat after surgery!!! yummy!! JK!! Actually we will be able 2 everything we can eat now just in very small quanities, & of course not at first but they said after about 4 to 6 weeks u r basically able 2 eat anything u want!! Taking into consideration u will need 2 watch ur carb & calories & sugar intake.
OK I know 1 question I had, & alot of u starting out on this journey have asked also, was about the liquid diet 2 weeks b4 surgery... my Dr. said eat litely but not pure liquids but the 2 days b4 surgery yes u r only allowed sugar free liquids!! And the 2 days b4 surgery u have 2 drink an entire bottle of PHOSPHOSODA and u have 2 do this 4 2 days 2 clean u out so 2 say.
They said 2 stay close 2 a bathroom. So that is what I am dreading. Other than that it is not going 2 be so bad.
Ok then I went on Thurs. 2 have the EGD done, & yes everyone has 2 have this done. I can't really tell u anything about it b-cuz I don't remember it, u r completely sedated, the last thing I remember is they told me 2 turn over on my side & they put a pillow behind my back and then the nurse in the recovery room telling me I could have some ice if I wanted it!! Then they ask me if I needed 2 go potty, when I told her I was ok I didn't need 2 go she said "well when u go tinkle u can go home" so naturally I got up & went!! So then they let me go home! And so that was it, it was all over!
Ok so that is all I can tell u 4 now... except that I am damn excited I can hardly contain it!!! I don't know if I'll post again b4 surgery or not but if I don't I will post as soon as I get home on Tues. so wish me luck and Pray that everything goes as planned.

ok Iwent 2 the Dr. yesterday but it was a tell me who u r type of visit. They weighed me , I hate scales. anyway 269.01 was the sad result.  ok so then I went in the room & waited, but not 4 very long when Dr. Hobson came in we talked 4 a while he ask me if I had any questions, which of course I did, he answered them all. He was very nice and he didn't act as if he was in a hurry or as if I was wasting his time!! I was very impressed!! He did tell me 2 start a High Protien Liquid Diet but on the paper he gave me it is not all liquids.. the paper says... drink a high protein shake for breakfast and eat a lean meat and a non-starch vegatable for lunch and dinner. Drink sugar free clear liquids in between meals. So I guess that will be my diet 4 the next 11 days.... OMG i can't believe I only have 11 more days 2 wait!!!!

Well here I am 18 days till surgery and I should be all happy and shit but I am so depressed right now I just wanna go some where & cry!!!
I feel so lonely cuz I know I am going have 2 go thru this alone (except 4 my DH) my family lives over an hour away & they r not very concerned about any1 other than themselves anyway! I have a sis whom lives right here in the same town but I don't think she is gonna b here 4 me either ( I guess I could b wrong). The few friends I have r either 2 busy, 2 far away or r trying 2 tell me it is a bad idea so no support there! I mean if I have 2 do this alone so b it I will cuz I know I need, want & deserve this. It's just sad cuz I am the type of person that tries 2 do 4 any1 that needs me & the 1 time in my life when I would hope that I could get some support they seem 2 b failing me. And 4 this reason I am depressed... I know I should just blow it off & say 2 hell with them all but it is soo hard. If my mama was still here she would support me but I lost her 01/10/05, even though I know she is with me in my heart. OK I'm gonna get off the pity train at the next station!! I'm sure I'll feel better 2morrow when I wake up so I'm gonna go 2 bed.

 WELL THE INSURANCE FINALLY APPROVED ME 4 MY GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY!!!
 NOW ALL THAT IS LEFT IS 2 WAIT ON THE SCHEDULING DEPARTMENT 2 GET EVERYTHING SET-UP FOR MY APPOINTMENT W/ THE SURGEON THEN THE PRE-OP AND THE LAST BUT BEST OF ALL THE SURGERY IT’S SELF THE DR.’S SAY ABOUT 2 - 3 WEEKS AND I SHOULD B AT LEAST IN PRE-OP!!!
I HOPE EVERYONE CAN UNDER STAND HOW HAPPY I REALLY AM!!!

I have gotten all my clearance letters and everything has been turn in to medicaid now I guess I'll have 2 wait and see what they say Please pray 4 an approval!!! The bariatrics place said it should be 2 to 4 weeks so I'll post more when I know something else!!

 This is my fairy maybe she can guide me thru all this!! My name is Camille I'm 35 yrs old I am from Gainesville Ga but I now live in Marietta Ga. My DH is from Puebla, Mexico. He is my rock & I honestly don't know where I would b w/o him. He luvs & accepts me as I am but he is also very excited 4 me. I have been overweight all my life. Please feel free 2 ask me anything cuz I have no secrets!!!

now if i can just get these next 3 lbs gone before Dec. 2nd.!!!! Everything is going good i need to get back on track with the exercise and I know it will be alot easier but damn I have a major lack of energy!!!! but I do have the will power so I know I can do this!!!!
Only 34 more to go to reach my goal of 150!!!! But I am happy with the way Iam right now!! ok then comes the bad news my dr. has found that I am in have the 1st stage of cancer in my privates and that suxs!!! but I'll pull through it and I'll be ok!! I now have custody of 2 of my cousins children and they keep me busy!!! Cesar is 6 and Abigail is 3 so you can imagine how it is!! They are really good kids for the most part!! I will try to gret more pics on here in the next couple of days!! I hope everyone is doing well!! 
so now what???? On the upside I have lost 28 lbs in 11 days, WOW!! Now that feels good just to say it 28 lbs in 11 days!! I am hopefully going to buy a treadmill tomorrow & then maybe the lbs will come off faster!! Ok so anyway I hope everyone else is doing great I just wanted to let you know how it is going 4 me I am going to hit the sack cuz I gotta get up early tomorrow & head to Gainesville, going 2 go see my Grandma!! 
But anywho I'll post angain in a few days!!
