John J. Feng, M.D.
I hit it off right away with Dr Feng. He was so understanding and very helpful in deciding which surgery I should have. I pretty much decided I wanted the VG after he went over all the procedures. I felt so comfortable with him and had no problems asking any questions, felt very much at ease. He explained everything in away which I could understand. He emphazies that follow up is very important with support groups etc.
His assistant Shelly is wonderful. She has been there for me with any questions and or any concerns I have.

    Sue is at home doing pretty good. Walking to the mail box and back and trying to drink her water, this seems to be one of the hardest things for her to do but otherwise she's doing good. Keep up the good work my little Angelette, I'll call you soon. Love ya, your Angel~Melody

    This is a surgery update on Susan: She had her surgery today about 11a.m. by 1:30 p.m. I was recieving a call telling me she made it out of surgery, she was still in recovery, the surgery went GREAT everything looked good and she should be home by sometime tomorrow evening. I will update you again soon. I will give her a day or two before I call her and check on her. PLEASE Join me in welcoming her to the losers bench!!

Well, I've haven't posted at all since my surgery.  So, now is the time.  I truly am amazed how easy the surgery process was.  I had no nausea at all and was ready to leave the hospital within 24 hours.  I had some discomfort where they pulled out my stomach, but, other than that the pain was very minimal. I truly feel blessed in many ways.  My best friend Annette was there for me all the way.  She took me down to the hospital, spent  the night and drove me home the next day.  She checked on me regularly as well as other friends and family.  I was back to work by the 8th day or so.  I have lost 65lbs. The weight loss has really slowed down.  Some days I find it very frustrating as I'm hardly eating.  I know my body must still be in SHOCK!  What have you DONE!!  I love my sleeve and wish I would have done it years ago.  I can't say enough good things about Dr Feng and his assistant Shelli.  They are super people and always just a phone call away.  I highly reccommend Dr Feng.  I have to say ...after my surgery and while I was in recovery he went and spent an hour or so with my friend and explained to her everything.  Pretty awesome.  Well, my journey so far has been really great. I thank everyone at OH.  I don't post to much..but, have learned so much from everyone.  What a great group!  Thank you ALL!

pre-op doctor visit

Hello Everyone!
I had my pre-op yesterday!  My Doctor is in a city I'm not familiar with.  Needless to say I was practically running (walking very fast)  Track  as i got lost and ended up parking 3 blocks away and was late for my appointment.  When I got there the receptionist Shelly was so sweet and said "oh your just fine, don't worry"  as I was huffing and puffing.  I thought for sure my blood pressure was going to be through the roof with all that  Running .  
 
Then Dr Feng gave me all the details on my upcoming surgery!
What a great doctor he is.  I can already say "WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS SOONER!"  My surgery is at 11:00am February 14th and I should be good to go home the next day!! Wowzie!  I've been on shakes since the 1st of February and will be on them till mid March along with broth.  Anyway, I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr Feng and Shelly.
I can't wait for the journey!!

My Story

Well, my story is a lot like everyone else.  I have been overweight pretty much my whole life. Having been obese since a child i went through all the teasing and mean things kids would say for years. (primarily boys)  Once I got into High School these same kids that teased me since 1st grade finally realized i wasn't such a bad person, just fat.  They became my friends.  Imagine that!    Thumbs Up  
I could be a spokes person for every weight loss remedy out there.  Jenny Craig, WW, Nutri System, Atkins, drink nothing but Shakes program and on and on.  After researching for quite awhile, I decided on the VG.  My insurance won't pay for it so I'm self pay.  Dontcha just love these insurance companies!!  It's around 18,000.00.  OUCH!!
But, it will be the best spent 18 grand EVER!  
Well, my surgery is on February 14th!   Morph 
I picked this day as a loving gift to myself. 
I'm READY!!
