I'M IN ONE-DERLAND!!!!!!!
on April 29, 2008 9:09 am
Yes, it's true!  I got on the scale this morning and the scale read 199.2.  I officially weight less than my husband.  LOL  That's 39 lbs and i feel great!  I never thought I'd be happy to hit the big 4-0.  LOL

Charlie went on a business trip and packed his suitcase.  He always weighs it to make sure that it's not over the limit.  He came into the living room and said, "Pick up this bag."  So I did.  It weighed a freaking ton!!!!  Then he smiles and laughs when I say that and tells me, "It's 41.6 lbs.  No wonder you feel so much better."  I about fell over!  You sure don't realize it when you're carrying it on your body.

Everything else is going great and I think of you gals all the time!!!!

LOVE YA LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just over 1 Month
on April 4, 2008 5:49 am
Well, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!

I got on the scale this morning and it said 210.  That's 28 lbs since Feb. 26.  I was very excited.

Saw Dr. M on March 26 and he said I was doing very well.  My scars are ugly but it's a small price to pay.  And besides, they'll fade.

My hubby is calling me the incredible shrinking woman.  LOL  He's been awesome.  Our life is really perking up (if you know what I mean).

I'm back on real food which is great.  I eat pretty much whatever I want.  However, instead of sitting down with a bag of Cheesy Puffs and devouring the entire bag, I have like 8 and I'm full.  LOL  I don't eat them very often, but they are my favorite and I can't live without them.

All my clothes are loose and it's weird.  Pants that used to scream for release from my butt are now starting to fall down a little bit.  Shirts that barely fit over my boobs are looser.  I no longer look like a sausage in my clothes.  LOL

I'll check back again.  Hopefully sooner rather than later.

3 Weeks Out
on March 17, 2008 5:44 am

Well, I'm 3 weeks post-op and I'm doing pretty good.  I don't get enough protein or water yet, but I'm working on it.  I'm still having issues with the protein powder I bought but I'm finding new ways to get the protein I need.

At my 2 week appointment the doc's scale had me down to 225 from 238.  That's 13 lbs.  My clothes are starting to fit looser but I don't notice it from just looking.  Dr. M put it in a good way.  He said I'd lost 13% of my goal in 2 weeks and I should be happy.  I am.

I'm on puree now which is good.  I'm eating yogurt and puree tuna along with the tofu.  I had quiche last night (spinach and swiss) and it was wonderful!

I'm taking my measurements every Sunday and they are going down!!!!!  It will be an amazing day when my hips are no longer over 50 inches around.  LOL  My waist has come back and I think my boobs are starting to shrink a little.  Not that you can tell by looking.

I've decided to go this 2 weeks without stepping on my home scale.  I want to see what happens when I get back on the doc's scale.  After that I'll weigh myself at home and compare the two.  I'll probably use my home scale after that for ease.  My hubby thinks there's something wrong with it because every time he steps on it it reads the same weight for him.  LOL  I personally don't think there's anything wrong with the scale.

I'm anxious to move to real food.  I plan to focus on proteins when I do.  I had tilapia the other night and then looked up the protein count.  Would you believe that 4 oz of tilapia has 28 g of protein in it!?!?!?!  I was floored.  In the process I found a great nutritional data website called Nutrition Data (www.nutritiondata.com).  Definitely check it out.  It gives nutritional data for food as well as restaurants.  Very cool stuff.

I'll post again after my appointment next week.

LOVE ALL YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!
on March 1, 2008 7:04 am
Okay, this is awesome!!!!

I'm home and having no complications other than Ihave to eat (or should I say drink) more slowly.  LOL  I'm taking all my vitamins and drinking all my protein.  I'm in heaven because the 8th Continent Light Vanilla flavored soy milk mixes amazingly with the chocolate protein powder I bought.  The first sip was almost orgasmic.  RFLMAO!  If you haven't tried it yet (liz and kim) try it soon.

Your emails were very appreciated.  They kept me laughing while they poked and proded me in the hospital.  I swear some of the nurses where definitely in the wrong field, especially the last one I had.  What a witch!!!!!!  She pulled my drain and I thought she was pulling out my intestines.  LOL

Okay, now for the best news.  My preop appointment weight = 238.  My postop appointment weight = 230.  Yup, that's 7 days and 8 lbs.  I said I wasn't going to weigh myself at home on my scale because I was afraid it would be higher than the doctor's.  But curiousity got to me this morning and I stepped on.  Wouldn't you know it, it said 225!!!!  I'm still going to use my docs weight for my postings since that's my "official" record and I'm still going to try to not weigh at home but I haven't seen that number in months.

I'll keep in touch and post monthly picture updates with my blogs whenever I see the doctor.

LOVE ALL YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Story

I was always an active person.  I did competitive gymnastics as a child and loved being in the outdoors (camping and hiking).  When I was 16 I had a career ending injury and that's when this all began.  I gained 30 lbs in 3 months and it's been downhill ever since.

Just like everyone else I've dieted with some success only to have the weight pile back.  About 10 years ago all hell broke loose.  I was diagnosed with depression and was placed on medication that I've been on since then.  As most of you probably know one of the main side effects of antidepressants is weight gain.  Boy, they weren't kidding.  I started at around 140-145.  After a decade of meds I've topped out at 230.  I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic 2 years ago.  I have PCOS.  And the cherry on this sundae?  One herniated disc, 3 bulging discs, arthritis in my lower spine, and degenerative disc disease.  Oh yeah, don't let me forget my snoring and breathing problems.

I have a great husband, but he's just as sick of my weight issues as I am.  He's very excited about the prospect of WLS.  We used to do so many things together and we're looking forward to doing them again.  The bottom line is this:

I WANT MY LIFE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
