Hi, my name is Denise, and I am beginning my journey to a healthier, happier new me.
I am so happy in my life. I have a wonderful husband, a wonderful career, and a realtionship with God. I am blessed. This is the only area, I have been challenged with in my life.
I love how everyone, that I have come into contact with, here on OH, is so giving of themselves and supportive.Thank you!
WOW! It has been 5 days since my surgery and I can't believe how smooth everything has gone so far. I have to say that I was totally ready, prayed up and was focused. I did still have some crazy fearful thoughts creep in, but as soon as they did, I prayed them away. GOD IS SO GOOD! He has been carrying me through this entire journey.
I can't believe that I left the hospital 2 days after surgery not needing any pain medicine...how is that possible? I was getting morphine immediately after my surgery; I really didn’t have much pain. My surgeon, Dr. LePort was awesome and so was his team...from the time they wheeled me into surgery, up until the time I checked out of the hospital, they were awesome!!!! I was prepared that this could be a hellish recovery, but so far...no problems. It is weird; I can't even comprehend how well I am doing. I am now getting to the point at meals where I am too full to eat or drink anymore...and I am eating less than a baby! What da? Pretty exciting! My friends and family are shocked to see that I am recovering so well and so quickly.I guess we all kind of expected that I would be laid up in bed for a few weeks and guess what…that never happened!
I am truly blessed. My husband has been an amazing support! I thank God for him. I thank God for the many friends that have been through this before me and have been able to encourage and help me.I pray that God uses me to help other people that are suffering the way that I have suffered my entire life from being obese.
This afternoon, I met with the GI Specialist. I began by giving him a piece of my mind:
During the procedure they did not sedate me enough (I actually feel as though they did not sedate me at all). I was completely aware of three nurses over me, shoving a huge tube down my throat, telling me to swallow; felt everything. It was a nightmare. It only lasted around five minutes, but I left the hospital feeling like after that procedure I could handle anything.
My suggestion for those of you who may be required to have this procedure, pre WLS, is to make sure that you are sedated enough.
Anyhow, the appointment went well. The GI Specialist explained everything, and at the end of the day everything was normal and there was nothing to be alarmed of. The doctor assured me that I would be good to go for the surgery. So now we wait. My appointment is scheduled for August 11th.
I’d been in process to have WLS for 11 months, when I received an e-mail from a friend that I’d not spoken with for about fifteen years. What a wonderful surprise. Then I noticed her pictures on her website, what a change. Monica had shrunk and looked beautiful. Because I was in the midst of the WLS process, my first thought was Monica had WLS.I responded to her e-mail and later that day we spoke. She went on to tell me about her journey with her new life after WLS. Monica is a Godsend. Since that time she has been cheering me on and letting me know what to expect going forward.
Monica, you’ve been great.Thank you for getting in contact with me.
My Surgery was scheduled for June 5th; however it was postponed due to an issue found on my GI report. At this time I am scheduled to have an EGD (Endoscopy Gastrointestinal Digestion) performed on Friday June 6th. Once I receive the GI clearance from the GI specialist, I will be good to go with my surgery. I am Nervous and excited at the same time, but most of all I am ready.
