7 month update!!
on April 7, 2008 4:35 pm
Well I am a few days late but I blame that to being very sick with the flu last week.  That flu however, helped me lose like 7lbs.. woohoo..

So at the 7mth mark I was down 115lbs.  Today I am down 118lbs.  I have to take my measurements cause the last time I did was in January.... I am sure there is a good difference in them now and am very excited to see it.

Things are pretty good.  I have an appt on April 15th with a local surgeon for my huge hernia.  My dr wants me to get it fixed before it gets any worse.  I want it gone and out of the way as its painful and awkward.   It makes me look like I have a bigger roll than I really do... You can tell in my monthly picture.

Anywho, I am trying to avoid sugars and pretty well also still try to stay away from carbs.  Have to get back good at the water thing as I haven't been drinking as much as I like.... Trying to keep a variety of foods going in.

I have decided to go back to drinking a protein shake a day to allow me the opportunity of enjoying more fruits and vegtables.  Without the shakes I feel like everything I put in my mouth should be protein.   I really miss my fruits and veggies.

I miss exercise to but don't want to push it with this hernia... I sure don't want to make it any worse.

So 98% of the time I love my DS.... The only time I don't is when I feel nauseous (sp?) when I eat.  Its all good.  That too shall pass I hope.

Thanks for taking the time to read up on my progress.

Best wishes to all on their journeys.

6 month update
on March 4, 2008 2:09 pm
well its 6 months today and I can hardly believe it.  Time has truly flown by.  I am down 103 (not the 120 I was hoping for but had a stall in there )... I will still take it.  I have lost over half of my excess weight which is awesome by me.  I recently went away on a vacation and it was awesome.  I could noticeably do so much more than I could have 100lbs ago.  I enjoyed this vacation far more than I would have thats for sure.  I have men hitting on me a lot more now which can be a good thing but can make one a little nervous too.... I think my weight was my protective shell from all that.... Oh well we will deal with that.

The ride thus far has been pretty good.  My dr and surgeon seem pretty thrilled with my results.  I haven't (knock on wood) had any major issues.  I have recently discovered I have an incisional hernia which I am not happy about but what can you do?  I hope they are able to fix that and I will be good to go.... From now on I am just happy with each and every pound I continue to lose.  I definitely don't want to stop where I am at.  I still have about 87 lbs to go to goal... yep thats a lot but it suddenly seems so much more achieavable than it did 6 + months ago.

I truly love MY DS!!!!

5 month update. I Love my DS
on February 4, 2008 3:25 pm
Its 5 months today since I had my surgery.  Where did the time go.... I am down 94 lbs... .Not the 100 I was hoping for as I was averaging 20 a month and have obviously slowed down (6 lbs isn't bad) but I will take it.... woohoo... what a difference I feel... I can move easier.. I am wearing smallr clothes, I walk faster, I feel more confident,   Things are great.

1 more lbs and I am half way to the surgeons goal.... hell my original goal before he wanted me to go lower was 30 lbs higher than his.. that would mean... that I have 64 lbs to get to my happy goal. I am sure by then I will want to lose more hehe.

ANYWAY JUST WANT TO SAY.... I LOVE MY DS!!!!

10 reasons to get FIT
on January 18, 2008 9:59 am
I missed my 4 month update.  I am currently at about 4.5 months and down 84 lbs... woohoo... I seem to hit a plateau in dec and jan the week before and of my monthly period.  That bites but what can you do???

I liked this so I am going to post it.

Physical activity has enormous benefits in addition to losing weight or shaping up:

 1. People who exercise live longer, on average, than people who don't.

2. Active people have a lower risk of dying from heart disease and stroke, and they're less likely to get high blood pressure.

3. The more active you are, the lower your risk of colon cancer.

4. The less active you are, the higher your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. If you already have type 2 diabetes, exercise can lower your blood sugar levels.

5. In people with arthritis, moderate exercise helps reduce joint swelling and pain and improves mobility.

6. Strength-building exercise helps counter bone loss (osteoporosis).

7. Exercise makes you functionally fit, meaning that it's easier for you to carry groceries, do chores, and independently perform many other activities of daily life.

8. Because of the calming effect of exercise, active people are less depressed, and depressed people often feel better after they start exercising.

9. Exercise can save you money. If you can prevent serious--and costly--medical conditions such as heart disease, cancer, and osteoporosis, you will have more money for your other needs.

10. Exercise can be fun! Many of the activities you did for play as a child count as exercise.

Dancing fast, walking your dog, bicycling, and gardening all strengthen your heart and lungs. Sound awesome? Then you're all set to begin your fitness plan.

3 month update
on December 3, 2007 8:53 am
Ok so I am almost a week late... but as the saying goes better late than never.

At the 3 month mark I was down 62 lbs... woot woot.. how friggen exciting is this....

As of today I am down 66 lbs and it will be 13 weeks tomorrow... The change is very noticeable now and I get lots of people complimenting me on my success (not everyone knows about the surgery although i am sure lots suspect yet are not brave enough to dare ask me (so they do it behind my back lol)).

I had to break down and get two pairs of my dress pants taken in.  Figured that would be cheaper than buying new ones.. Guess again.. they charged me 30 bucks a pair cause they had to be taken in at the crotch area as well as the rear....

Last night I found a pair of capris that I never got to wear that I figure I might as well get rid of as I will be way to small for them by the time I am able to wear them.  I tried them on for fun and they fit no problem... Didn't have to struggle to do them up at all.... When I started this journey I was unfortunately wearing a size 28.... Those capris were size 22..... woot woot... Soon I will be out of a size 22.  NOW THATS SOMETHING TO CELBRATE ISN"T IT? haha.
I am happy I did it and have no regrets now.  I am losing well, I can eat a lot better than I did before.  I still can't eat a big portion but that does not seem to bother me much.... I don't have many cravings so that is great as well.   I have even tried Beef and Salmon which had given me trouble earlier on and am able to eat it issue free.....

LIFE IS GETTING GOOD!!!!

My Story

I was skinny as a child, gained a few pounds at 13 but nothing
significant. When I was 18 I had a very serious car accident where I
was almost killed. I was laid up in bed not able to walk for 3
months. From there on the health problems and weight gain started.
I have since had several operations on my knees, have thyroid issues
and have tried every diet under the sun. I have lost, gained +, lost
gained back and then some several times. I broke my ankle last Oct
and was laid up for 8 weeks not able to leave the house (the stairs
for such a big person was a huge issue). That meant I was also off
work that whole time. Since then I have gained any weight I had lost
back and must have lost muscle and gained fat cause I wear a size
bigger than I had... That sucks. ITs now at the point where its
affecting my social life as I don't want to go out and be seen... and
I don't like how I look or feel at all. This is it... Time to do
something drastic. Before something drastic happens to me.
