Surgeon Testimonial

Jon L. Schram, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Schram seemed like a nice man. My time with him at my consult was very short. I think it is because I already know a lot about the surgery and didnt have many questions to ask him. He explained what they did during the surgery process, so that it was easy to understand. He also told me about some of the risk and death ratio. Which I'm not worried about in my situation. I have chosen BTC and Dr. Schram because I have heard alot of wonderful things about Dr. Schram and the many surgerys he has performed outside the BTC surgery.

The staff was really nice and helpful. I really like the way they handle the aftercare. I have been attending BTC meetings with my sister for the past year and feel I get a lot of good information from there.

Well, it’s official! You’re on the losing side. The trumpets are blaring, the cymbals are crashing and the drums are drumming – all for YOU! I hope that all went well for you! You’ve been out of surgery now for a little over a month – YIPPIE!!! Your journey will have moments to “pause” – I’d like to impart some words of wisdom for when it does occur - remember these wise words whispered by Confucius – “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” Be patient. You didn’t put it on over night, it won’t come off over night (DARN IT!)… RNY 10/31/03 – down 87 pounds!!! Good luck!

I've lost a couple pounds! Yeah!
on December 1, 2008 8:07 am
I'm happy to say that I have been weighing anywhere from 163-165.  Obviously, I still want to lose more weight, but I'm happy I lost those couple of pounds and keeping them off.  If I can maintain for a little while there and then drop another couple pounds here and there, I would be elated!  I'm still wearing mostly 12's and some 10's and large shirts (fitted shirts just don't look right on me anymore since having the baby).  I can't wait for the day that I can have plastic surgery and get rid of all this lose skin once and for all!

I'm very happily married to the most wonderful man in the world!  We will be married 3 years on December 10.  I thank God everyday for bringing such an awesome man into my life.  My baby is now 4 months old and adorable as all get out.  My oldest son will turn 10 on December 13 and I cannot believe how fast years go by.  It doesn't seem like I should have a 10 year old!  And I can't forget to mention my beautiful daughter who will turn 8 in March.  I'm truely blessed to have such a wonderful family!

Still struggling
on October 10, 2008 6:27 am
I'm still  struggling to lose these few last pounds I gained during my pregnancy.  I'm currently weighing between 165-167 (lowest weight ever was around 155 on my old scale).  I know that this is only 3-5 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight and my doctors lowest scale weight...but darnit, I want to get back into my 150's (and lower if possible).  What totally sucks is that I'm pretty close to my pre-pregnancy weight, but my clothes don't fit or look the same (most are to small, tight and short).  I was wearing mostly 8's (and 10's) before and now wearing mostly 12's (some 10's).  I know I need to buckle down and drink more water and make healthier choices.  Some days I do really good and other days I just want to eat junk all day.  I guess to some degree I should consider myself lucky that I didn't gain any of the weight I lost from my surgery prior to my pregnancy.  It's just so hard to lose these last few pounds and even if I do get them off, I'm affraid that I will never get into my old jeans because my body shape is different now (especially in the belly).  Some days I feel so fat and other days I feel happy with how far I have come since my surgery.  It's a mind game that will never go away and I know I always will have to watch what I eat so I don't gain any more weight back.  This surgery has changed my life drastically and I'm a much happier person now.  I have 3 great kids, a great husband and a nice home to live in.  I'm able to stay at home and take care of my children.  God has truly blessed me in many ways.  I just wished I could accept my body the way it is and get past the fact that it will never be perfect.  I still plan to get a lower body lift in the future (hopefully in the next couple of years), but I'm affraid that even after that, I won't be happy with my body.  The surgery has definately helped me to lose the weight and keep it off, but it hasn't helped my brain and the way I think.  Food will always be an addiction that will be hard to overcome.

Yes, my baby was born!
on September 18, 2008 4:00 pm
Oh My, I should have posted much sooner, but life with a baby is so much more time consuming!

My son was born on July 25, 2008 (11days early) and weighed 8lbs 5.5oz. and was 20 inches long!  He is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen (even my mom and sister agree and we already have 4 other kids between us....LOL).  I had a fast, natural labor and delivery with no complications!  He is one of the greatest joys of my life (along with my other 2 kids and husband) and I'm so happy I have him (though the sleep deprivation sucks).

I had gained a total of 29-30 pounds during my pregancy and have lost all but 6-10 pounds of that.  The darn scale keeps jumping up and down those few pounds....ugh!  I can tell you that this wont be easy to drop those last 10 pounds and not to mention that I would LOVE to drop a few more beyound that!  I can still eat much more than I could pre-pregnancy and really have to watch my portion sizes.  I also need to be more aware of my food choices and try to cut out the sugar and fattening things (hard to do).  I also need to increase my water/fluid intake.  I definately know that plastic surgery will be in my future as my belly is much looser and fatter than before.....ERR!  Clothes shopping isn't as much fun anymore and I hate that I have to wear 1-2 sizes bigger.  I sure hope that I get into my pre-pregnancy clothes again, although the styles are changing and I want a new wardrobe....LOL.

Check out my most recent pics!  Hope you enjoy!

37 weeks, 2 days preggo
on July 17, 2008 5:57 pm

Any day now is all I can say!  We are soo ready for this baby boy to be born!  Everything is washed and ready!  The equipment we need right now is all set up and ready!  We just are waiting on our boy to decide when he wants to make his appearance!

Thank God my weight gain has slowed way down and at 37 weeks, 1 day preggo, I have gained a total of 28 pounds.  I feel pretty confident that I wont gain more than the 35 pounds that I was allowing myself to gain.  I can honestly say that 98% of the weight I gained is all due to baby and all belly.....LOL.  People think I'm ready to pop this baby out NOW but in reality, my body hasn't shown any signs of being ready (no thinning....no dilation...just baby's head is down).  I feel great, have no problems getting around and sleep quite well for being this far along!  At my 34 week ultra sound, everything with baby and myself looked great too!  Now to just to get through labor & delivery and hold the baby is all I'm looking forward to.  I will download my 37 week, 2 day photo's as soon as hubby downloads them onto computer.

33 Weeks, 1 Day Preggo
on June 18, 2008 2:22 pm
Well not a whole lot has changed since my last update.  Everything with my pregnancy is going really well.  My weight gain still scares the crap out of me, but my doctor is saying that I'm right on track and nothing to worry about.  We have purchased all the "big ticket" items for the baby and starting to finalize all the smaller items.  We are getting so excited.  It's so awesome to feel the baby move inside of me and I will miss being pregnant for sure.  I definately think I feel this baby move way more than my 2 kids pre-op.  It's awesome to look pregnant this time around too.  People are saying I'm all baby and alot of people think I'm about ready to pop at anytime......LOL.  I will add a couple of 30+ weeks pregancy pics into my photo album.

My hubby has been busy working and doing things around our house.  He has our yard looking very nice and he added a garden (tomatoes, cucumbers, zuccini, peas and an assortment of peppers).  We added a deck and some landscaping to the front of our house which makes our house seem so more welcoming.  Hubby is also still working very hard at starting his own business and is getting really close to making the product for our own house 1st.  I think he has a good idea and I sure hope and pray that people will take to it (which I think they will).  As you can see my husband is very energetic and motivated (he don't sit on his behind).  I love that about him!  In fact I love everything about him and I'm so glad that God brought him into my life.  I'm truley blessed to have him as a husband and have 2 wonderful kids (3rd on the way).  Now all I will need to do is concentrate on losing this baby weight after the baby is born and making myself look the best I can!
