to live a healthier and more active lifestyle

I've been pretty much overweight all my life, I started gaining more weight when my daughters were born.  In the last 4 years i've been having health issues,  Was diagnosed with high blood pressure, then last year found out I had Sleep Apnea and my thyroid was out of whack.   I've been thinking about having WLS for years now but with the insurance and the job I had at the time, I couldn't take that long period of time off and the insurance was crap!   I started a new job last year and have awesome insurance.  I have to give my neighbor Anne alot of credit, she had WLS done 9 weeks ago and I didn't know they were doing it laproscopic.  When I found out that the recovery time was only 3 weeks (i have a sit down job).  I started checking out the procedure and found I would be really comfortable having it done.   I had a discussion with my family one night about it and they were totally behind me.   A few days later the hubby called and asked me to bring him some lunch and said he needed to talk to me about something.  So I headed on up to his work and we were sitting in my truck when he turns to me and says "I think you should call the dr today and get an appt to see him about the WLS.  I would like to have you around for the next 20 years and I know you have been having issues with your weight.  I love you just as you are, but healthy wise I think you should have it done"   I was floored!! but happy.  
  I called my PCP and made an appt with him, he wrote a letter of referal for me and thought it was a great idea.  after he faxed it over, I waiting a few days and called the Bariatric center to see if they received his referral and they did.  They scheduled me for an appt on 2/11/08.  It was a great visit, he was nice and answered all my questions,  once that was over they scheduled me for my intake on 3/14 and my one on one visits with the dietician and ss worker for 3/17.   The group visit was awesome, It was very informative, they gave me a book and paperwork from my insurance company.   When my appts came on 3/17 I was alittle nervous, once I went I was fine.  The ss worker was very nice and we had a great chat,  the dietician was awesome too, she gave me some helpful suggestions on my eating and what to incorporate into my diet to get ready for the surgery.   Once those where done I'm now scheduled for my physical on 3/31.  I'm excited to be progressing so fast.  I hope it stays that way!!
