Surgeon Testimonial

Edmund Chute, M.D.

Edmund Chute MD, Surgeon
Dr. Chute had surgical training at the University of Minnesota and was on the Bariatric Service there in 1982. He went on to complete a fellowship in Vascular Surgery, and has been a part of this surgical group since 1990. He has been performing laparoscopic gastric bypass since 2002, and now specializes in weight loss surgery. He has a special interest in laparoscopic treatment of obesity.

When I first met Dr. Chute, he was very attentive and informative with me about the surgery and the process. He explained that he was here to help me and that he supported my decision regardless of what he may have been. The staff at his facility are very friendly and they treat you as if they have known you for years. They really seem to care about their patients and they are always available to answer and questions and or concerns that I may have. My surgeon is very concerned with his patient's aftercare and long term process and they believe in going strictly by the book in order to get the best results. They want you to come to all of your follow-up appointments and stated that they will even call you and follow up if you miss an appointment. He addressed the risks of the surgery and explained the things that can be done to make the risks even less. I believe based on all the research and information that I have obtained that I am in the best hands and that I will be a success story. Surgical competence and bedside manner are both great and equally important because making this decision and going through the entire commitment and process isn't something that is taken light heartedly.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and a wonderful Labor Day last week. Well so far I have lost 71 pounds and I feel wonderful. I have to admit that I haven't started excercising and I really ned to so that I can tone up. There really isn't much loose skin just need to try toning some things up. I feel wonderful and can finally say that this is the best decision that I have made. The only complaint that I have is that this Texas heat doesn't agree with me and this surgery. I guess I just have to get adjusted to the heat and the bugs. None of my clothes fit and even though I need to go shopping, I still have the mentality that I am fat even though I am down 71 pounds. My current weight is 215 pounds and even though that's still overweight I am happy with the way that I look and the progress that I am making. I hope all is well for everyone and until next time, have a splenda day.

Well the kids are back in school and like always the parents are the ones stressed out an exhausted. Saturday I had to go and take my 7 year old for a Hepatitis A vaccine because it's required in the state of Texas. Considering that we just moved here and don't have a doctor as of yet, I had to go and stand out in the heat for 3 hours and wait for the vaccine, which was free, thank God! Then I had to go finish school shopping and buy my son's uniforms for school because he has to wear uniforms. Then on Monday I had to sit at my daughter's school for three hours before they found a class to put her in. Well today is the 3rd day of school and I am finally catching up on my rest and relaxation and begin focusing on me. I am own to 224 and lovin it. I can honestly say that I haven't set up my 3 month appointment and don't know when I will but it will be soon. I fell off of track with my vitamins and so now I am trying to get back on track with that as well. Other than that I have no news to report other than it is hot as hell in San Antonio but I am lovin it.

First let me start by saying that I have missed you all this past month. I am now officially a Texan. San Antonio is beautiful and I love it down here. Well it will be 3 months on the 29th and I have lost 60 pounds and currently weigh 227. I feel good and can eat just about anything. I don't eat bread, sweets or fried foods. I can't really eat early in the morning but I am working on that. I'm still doing my protein shakes but instead of protein powder I use 2 scoops of ensure which gives me 18 grams of protein. My husband and kids enjoy the shakes more than I do. I haven't gotten into the habit of cooking yet because I really haven't done it in the past three months.  I am still getting settled and unpacking things but life is good. I hope that everyone is doing well and I am glad to be back.

Graphics for I Miss You Comments

I should be happy considering that I am leaving for San Antonio tomorrow but I am not. One of my uncles passed away yesterday and so I am in mourning. The funeral is Monday and I am not able to make it because of the fact that I am moving and have commitments in SA that I cannot get out of. I just want to express my love for my family and my pain. When you think all is going well and you have time later on for certain things, God shows you that you can't take advantage of the fact that tomorrow will be here so live for today and spend as much time with your loved ones as possible.

My Story

My name is Shae and I am a 31 year old married woman with two beautiful children.  I have struggled with my weight for the last ten years and honestly felt that there wasn't anyone in the world that understood my pain and misery.  Some people try to understand but others thought that it was just a matter of backing away from the table and exercising. I have tried many exercise and diet programs and none of them brought anything long lasting. My cousin and my kids godmother both have had the gastric bypass surgery and they are doing very well so I decided that it is my turn. The Lord has brought me a long way because not only did I have to pray, cry, scream and fuss over my weight gain and the decision to have the surgery, but I also had to start loving me again and get my mind right. Now I am so excited to begin my new life after surgery and everyday until the big day is just a giant step closer to a new and improved me. I feel like I am being born again and I plan on taking full advantage of my new chance and experience.  My family and friends are all being very supportive of my surgery and I can't wait to meet as many people on this site that I can and give them the support that they need.

I BELIEVE THAT MY MOTHER IS MY ANGEL AND THAT SHE IS WATCHING OVER ME FROM HEAVEN SO I NAME THIS ANGEL JULIA (AFTER HER). I THINK THAT SHE WOULD BE PROUD OF ME FOR HAVING MY SURGERY BUT AT THE SAME TIME SHE WOULD BE NERVOUS. HELL SHE WAS NERVOUS WHEN I GAVE BIRTH TO MY SON 13 YEARS AGO. I AM NOT NERVOUS OR SCARED ABOUT THE SURGERY BECAUSE MY GIRL (MY MOM) HAS MY BACK.........R.I.P MOMMY BECAUSE NOW WHEN I THINK ABOUT YOU, IT'S WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE INSTEAD OF TEARS IN MY EYES.

100 reasons for WLS

1.To feel good about ourselves.
2.So we won't think people are laughing or talking about us.
3.To buy clothes in a normal store and actually get clothes with some style, to them that fit correctly.

8.To cross your legs or sit Indian style.
9.To fit into an airline/theatre/bus/whatever seat without spilling over and without having to see "that look" from the person who has to sit beside you.

11.To fit into a booth at any restaurant.
12.To not need an extension to a seat belt on an airplane and to have the tray
table not balance on our bellies.
13.To not worry about being decapitated in our cars with our seat belts on if we should be in an accident.
14.To not start weezing after moderate exertion.

24.To not worry about spilling food, sauces or gravy down the front of your blouse/dress/shirt when eating.
25.To not have to think up some excuse for not doing something because you know your weight will impede you.
26.To not have your belly hit the steering wheel and to be able to fit comfortably in the driver's seat.
27.To have a bra fit comfortably and to be able to buy underwear at Victoria's Secret rather than at "Tubby the Underwear Guy".
28.To not have to worry about the weight limit of step stools, ladders, motorcycle, exercise equipment, etc.
29.To not get stuck in a turn style.
30.To not wake up feeling achy in the back or to have ache free legs and feet.
31.So the bathroom scale won't creak and groan when you step on it.
32.To be able to leave the tablecloth on the table at a restaurant instead of dragging it with you when you get up.
