I'm Amorette. I am married to my (very supportive) best friend of 10 years (been married for 8). I'm a stay at home Mama to our 2 kids, a daughter (7) and a son (4). We're finished having kids...yay! lol...they're quite the little handfulls. Very spirited. I wish I had their energy...which is another reason for wanting/needing to lose this weight that is holding me back. As a family, we love to hike, walk and jog together (I'm always last lol). We love doing outdoorsy activities, such as camping, 4-wheeling, etc. I'd love to do some water sports, but I'm so afraid I'd be too heavy and I won't be caught dead in a swimming suit!

So, I've lost 35 lbs. I will update my measurements in a bit...

Here's a recipe i like:
I was inspired by Rachel Ray to make these... her idea was the ham lined cups...

Green Eggs & Ham

preheat oven to 400.
Line a mini muffin pan with thin sliced ham to form little cups.
In a blender or food processor,
add 3 eggs (or 6 egg whites),
about 1/4 cup milk or cream,
3/4 cup frozen spinach (thawed and drained)
1/4 cup cheese (I used parmesan and a little cheddar)
salt & pepper
blend until it's mixed, but not too pureed.

Pour egg mixture into the ham lined cups. Bake for about 18-20 minutes. These are so yummy and low carb. I ate 2 and was stuffed.

11.19.08 ~ 2 months out

Today is my 2 month survery anniversary. I'm 28 lbs and a bunch of inches down. I'm on another stall (it's been a 10 days since I've lost anything). The last stall lasted almost 4 weeks. I need to start working out and tracking my calories AND drinking more water. That's all :)

I added 2 month pics. Notice that I'm wearing the same thing as my pre-op pics. I don't feel like I've lost much. My clothes are looser, but I'm not in a smaller size yet...10 more lbs, I think. That's the drawback of being tall.

Nothing much to update. I haven't lost anymore weight...but my clothes are fitting looser and I've lost inches.

I made a yummy breakfast today. Now, it may sound nasty to some people, but it's delicious. I wasn't so sure until I tried it.

1 tsp olive oil
2 tbsp smoked salmon
1 egg
spash of milk
1-2 tbsp cream cheese

scramble the egg with the salmon & milk. Scramble in a pan with the olive oil until it's cooked, then add the cream cheese, and salt & pepper to taste...this is sooooo good! I'm having it for lunch, too :D

So, it's been about 2.5 weeks since I've had my surgery! I've lost about 20 lbs and 18 inches so far. I'm very happy :D

The surgery went perfect. I have only good things to say about Dr. Aceves (and all the other dr's & nurses!) and Almater Hospital. I feel I made an excellent choice.

The day after I got home, I took the steri-strips off my incisions. They were red and itchy. I've also discovered that I'm allergic to those cloth-like band-aids. The incisions seem to be healing ok. I'm not covering them with bandages, but I am using a massage oil that I made...a base of grapeseed oil, lavender, tea tree, GSE, Vit E. I need to add some emu oil to it since that helps scars fade.

I have no energy at all. I am having a very hard time getting in a decent amount of protein (probably only 15 grams a day, if that). I just can't eat much at all. I'm trying to focus more on my water intake. I also need to start taking my vitamins religiously. I just got my blood test results back from my Dr appt 3 days before my surgery. It says I'm borderline anemic, abnormal vit d, and abnormal cholesterol (220)....great. Looks like I'll need to start taking more vitamins. Who needs food when all you have room for are pills & water?

We're in Mexico!
It's very hot & humid, but the hotel room is well air conditioned :D I regret not bringing my swimming suit because the hotel has a really nice pool!

I had all of my pre-op tests done today and I'll be meeting with Dr. Campos in about 45 minutes in the hotel lobby. We went to a cute little Italian place for dinner...the 4 cheese pizza was delicious :D
Wish me luck tomorrow!!

My Story

I'm 30 years old and have been overweight most of my teen & adult life.

I was a size 14 when I married my DH in July 2000, became pregnant almost right away and only gained about 40 lbs and lost it right after the pregnancy (2001). I was nursing and that's when I gained about 30-40 lbs. Went on Atkins in 2002/2003 for about 6 months, lost about 25 lbs, then I got pregnant with my son and gained a whopping 80 lbs. which put me at my highest weight of 255. I lost about 30 of those lbs and was a steady 225-235 for a couple years and it's slowly creeping back on.

I originally wanted the lap-band, but decided I'd try WW for a year, so I tired it, lost about 20 lbs, felt like I was starving all the time, gave up and gained 30 lbs, which leaves me at my all time (non-pregnancy) high of 240. I've been researching other types of WLS and have decided the VSG is the right choice for me.
