ABOUT ME...
My name is Lori and I am a 41 year old woman who has struggled with my weight for about as long as I can remember!
I finally made the decision to have wls when my mom was diagnosed with cancer and passed away very quickly. So this journey for me is extremely bittersweet because I know how much taking back my health meant to my mom. However, I am very lucky to have amazing support from the rest of my family - my beautiful 21 year old daughter Brie; Elvis, my hubby who has loved me for me - thick (very thick..lol) and less thick!; my dad; my sister Cindy and her husband Mark.

It seems like so long ago and yet only yesterday that I was walking aroung the corridor of the Barix Clinic scared to hope that wls would work for me.....now here I am 2 years later, HAPPY, married, LIVING life again!
This was the right choice for me and each day I am so thankful for my new, healthy life.
Good luck to all those people at the beginning of their journey and congratulations to those who are enjoying the ride!!!!

Last night was my daughters graduation from college! I am very proud of her, she did amazing and even won 2 awards!
I posted a couple of pics.
In about 2 weeks I will be 2 years post-op. I seem to be maintaing at 215ish.... I am doing a lot of talking about joining a gym, I need to ge off my butt and JOIN and stop talking about it!!

I am trying not to feel discouraged but I seem to have hit a really big plateau. I guess I need to feel good that I am maintaining...but I would love to see the other side of 200!
I am still staying at 215 or so.....
We had a nice Halloween - I posted some pics for all to see.
Hope everyone is good out there in weight loss land!

Elly (that is what I call Elvis) and I received our letter from citizenship & immigration on Friday and he has been approved for permanent residence here in Canada!! All we wait for now is the security & medical checks and all is good!!!! YEAH!
Otherwise, health wise things are okay. Lately I have felt really tired... and very bloated...and I weighed about 4-5 pounds heavier. Hopefully upping my water and getting regular excersize will help!

Well, I updated a pic that Elvis took of me on Friday night before we went out, which was my 1 year and 9 month surgiversay! I felt kind of silly posting it because I really haven't lost any weight since the last pic, but oh well... :o)
This week has been really stressful! Because Elvis is from Jamaica, we have to go through an immigration process, and this past week we had to each meet with an immigration counsellor. She asked us many questions like... what side of the bed do you sleep on, what is my fav food, what is Elvis's fav food, last argument etc.... and from our answers she needs to determine whether we are a "bona fide" relationship. I was not scared before the interview, because we have nothing to hide, BUT afterwards the enormity of it all has really got to me!!
I hope this woman is as smart as she seemed in the interview, because if she is she will see our genuine love and respect for each other! I have my fingers crossed...toes and legs too now that I have lost enough weight to cross them !!! (Even stressed, it is good to keep your sense of humour!!) lol

i posted a pic that Elvis took of me tonight...I am not really on track with the monthly update pics but I will try to post every so often.
Things are going really well at my dad's, it is slowly but surely beginning to feel like home. I love the fact that Elvis and my dad get along so great! Just one of the many reasons why I love my wonderful hubby!
Tomorrow I am going to the States shopping with some work friends, I plan on spending $300.00 all on clothes! I LOVE to shop now! I remember when I hated it, nothing fit and NOTHING looked good!
I count my blessings every day!!!

Elvis and I made a big decision to move in with my dad - When my parents built their house it was designed for it to one day be modified to include a seperate apartment in the walk out basement. I can honestly say that this is the first time since my mom passed away that I have seen my dad interested in ANYTHING to do with the house or yard!
So far, so good....Brie has taken over my place and in the process inheritied a lot of my stuff!!! - But it is a safeguard, just in case I can't live here at my dad's. Still feels like HIS place, but eventually it will feel more like ours. Elvis is loving it - him and my dad are really close and he likes having the yard and pool to take care of!
Good news - I now weigh 217! This means I am down 198 pounds.... 2 more pounds to go to hit my DOUBLE century club!!!!!

Happy 21st Birthday to my wonderful kid today!!!! I am busy getting everythinkg ready for a steak BBQ with friends and family.
I am super excited also because when I weighed myself today I weighed 217 pounds which means that with 2 more pounds off I will have lost 200 pounds!!!!!! I think the difference is that I have been sooooo active and busy getting lots of excersize and drinking more water.
Last night was my work Annual General Meeting, it is a pretty dressy affair...normally I would have been stressing for weeks prior to going because I would have NOTHING to wear....I wore long, black carwash pants, high heels, and a cute little sleaveless white top with a collar....I will post some pics when I get them...I felt great!!!!

Well, we had an amazing time. I came home from the trip and got weighed and I am now down 192 pounds and weigh 223 pounds!!!
I will post a few pics so people can enjoy the beauty of Cuba too! The only downfall of the trip was the fact that I missed my hubby like crazy the whole time!!!
