Hi my name is Sherri,

I had rouxen-y gastric bypass surgery on May 7, 2007.  I am working on a before pic for my profile.  I still cannot believe my success.  I entered surgery on May 7 weighing in at 390lbs.  Now I am only 5 foot tall so can you image the heath problems that I have had?  I could barley walk, let alone breathe.  I was on the verge of diabetes and possibly a heart attack.  I had thyroid disease which they say weight loss does not cure.  This is untrue.  I was on 14 different medications just to get out of bed every day.
By May of 2008 I had lost 150 lbs weighing in on May 7th at 240lbs.  I was so happy but my journey was far from over my goal weight was 150lbs   I exercised, had a great diet plan  took my vitamins and had lots of support.  By October of 2008 I was at my goal weight.  I weighed in on October 18th at a regular doctors appointment at exactly 149.8lbs.  I felt fantastic!!!  I did not even realize that I was loosing weight I was having so much fun doing it.  I was active and my family was active for the first time in my life on October 22 while on a vacation in Gettysburg, PA on the Battlefield tour I ran....Yes ran up to the top of the tower that overlooks Pickets Charge.  My husband has video....My husbands cousin who is very healthy naturally she ran up it with me  when we got to the top I cried so hard I could not stop.....she asked me if I was ok  a I told her that I was happier with myself than I have ever been in my entire life....This was truley one of the happiest days of my life I finally realized that I have a new life  I have really been reborn thanks to My gastric surgeon Dr. Peter Liao, my husband, my children and grandchildren and myself for giving me and myy body this wonderful tool...Yes I called it a TOOL to get my body in the best condition it has ever been in.   Now it is 2011 and I still weigh 125lbs now due to hormones and other normal life issues of a woman I do play with 10lbs but I feel wonderful.  I know how to take care of myself and stay healthy and I returned to college.  As of February 2011 I receive a Bachelors of Health Science so I am working on being qualified to help others achieve the same success with Gastric bypass as I have had.......I live by the saying of Pay it Forward..... This is my way of paying forward the things that others have given me that have meant the most.

Thank you Everyone
