Thanks so much to everybody who has posted here for your support and well-wishes! I'm grateful for your encouragement and support.
My surgery (open RNY) on 5/7 and hospital stay went well. The staff at Provena Mercy were very attentive and sympathetic, and seemed genuinely supportive of me and each other WLS patient.
I was released from the hospital on 5/9. Had no problems walking or tolerating food once I got it. Now that I'm home, I'm just trying to keep comfortable (I own one comfortable chair -- my bed and every other piece of furniture aren't very friendly at this post-op stage!), do my walking and breathing exercises, and take my painkillers as needed (which is frequent). My incision area is really quite painful, and I suspect I may be allergic to the staples, although none of the hospital or WISH Center personnel seems to think it's allergy as opposed to just the trauma of surgery. In any event, I'm hoping the worst will be over in the next couple of days, because it does make it difficult to do just about anything.
